FAQ
Ordering & Delivery
When will my order ship?
Selected items will be shipped within 1–3 days of your order. All other items are shipped on the second and fourth Monday of each month (the cutoff is 20:00 on the Friday preceding the shipping date). The next shipping date is displayed on each product page.
How much is shipping?
Shipping costs are automatically calculated based on the delivery destination and the size and quantity of the plants in your order, and will be displayed during the checkout process. Please refer to our Shopping Guide for a rate table. Multiple items will be consolidated into a single shipment.
Will the plants arrive in pots?
As a general rule, plants are shipped bare-root, removed from their pots and soil. The pot size (gou) listed in the product name serves as a reference for the size of the pot the plant was grown in.
Can I cancel my order?
If it has been less than 24 hours since you placed your order and the items have not yet shipped, you can request a cancellation by logging in and accessing your order history. We will process the cancellation once we have verified the details. We do not accept cancellations after 24 hours have passed or once an order has been shipped.
Can I order from overseas?
We support international shipping via EMS. While we include a Japanese phytosanitary certificate, please verify the import requirements for your destination country or region yourself before placing an order. For more details, please see our Shipping Policy.
About the Plants
Are the plants I receive identical to those in the photos?
Product photos show reference specimens. We will ship a plant of the same variety and comparable size and condition. For unique "Selected" items, you will receive the exact plant shown in the photo.
What should I do first when they arrive?
Plant them in well-draining, dry soil and wait about a week before you begin watering. Immediately after planting, keep them in a bright location out of direct sunlight to help the roots settle.
Can they be grown outdoors in winter?
Items marked "Cold Hardy" are varieties that can overwinter outdoors in the Kanto region. If growing them outdoors, you can successfully overwinter them by withholding water and keeping them on the dry side starting in December (in the Kanto region). You can filter for cold-hardy varieties using the filter on the left side of the product list. Other varieties should be kept indoors or under eaves during the winter.
About Seeds
When were the seeds harvested?
We indicate the arrival period for each lot on the product page. Since seed viability decreases over time, please sow them as soon as possible after delivery.
Is germination guaranteed?
We do not guarantee germination, as rates can vary significantly depending on sowing time, temperature, soil, and other conditions. If there are obvious defects, such as cracked seeds or missing embryos, please contact us within 7 days of arrival.
Is it okay to buy seeds of species protected by CITES?
The CITES-listed seeds we handle have been legally imported through the required permits and plant quarantine procedures. You generally do not need to perform any personal procedures to purchase or sow these seeds domestically. However, *Encephalartos* species require domestic registration under the Act on Conservation of Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora. We will provide individual guidance on procedures for such products. Additionally, if you plan to take purchased seeds or seedlings overseas, you will need to obtain separate export permits.
